Universal Orlando Resort has released the new, second generation of interactive wands for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and we went out to purchase and unbox one, and try out the new spells in both Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley! These wands come with an extra special surprise, as the map includes all the wand locations in both Universal Orlando Resort parks – Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure, but also, for the brand new world – the Ministry of Magic in Epic Universe, which opens May 22, 2025!

Another interesting note about this new generation of wands is that, the previous interactive wands were each tied to various characters in the “Wizarding World,” while with these wands, they are yours… YOU are the wizard, they are not tied to any other character. So far, only four have been released, and of course I chose the one that looked like shining emeralds from an ancient tree, and we named it Merlinwood!
