Fan-favorite original character HamiKuma from Universal Studios Japan will debut via a new merchandise collection at both Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood, giving fans the chance to celebrate the adorably terrifying bear for the first time in the U.S.
HamiKuma is a zombie teddy bear character whose name translates to “protruding bear” in Japanese. He first appeared in 2021 as part of the Street Zombies scare zone at Universal Studios Japan’s Halloween Horror Nights event and quickly became a fan favorite! He’s an adorable mix of cute and gruesome, creepy and fun! He’s what’s known as “kowa-kawa,” “scary cute,” A blend I LOVE!!
Over the next few years, HamiKuma became a star at the Halloween Horror Nights event in Japan. Appearing in scare zones, shows, meet and greets, and merchandise lines, and even having HamiKuma Soul become part of the attraction!
Now, in 2025, HamiKuma is coming to the USA to be featured on a new line of merchandise in both Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood! He’s such a cool looking icon, and we can’t wait to embrace him here in sunny Florida… I’d love to see him in a scare zone or house in upcoming years.
